This question will certainly have different answers for different students. Most of you will face this question in various Interviews also. You will be preparing for this question in detail after CAT. I will be there to help you get an answer for this big question likely to be posed during Interview stage.

Still it will be prudent to generalise the short answer here too, before we start preparing for the CAT.

Why MBA: In short, doing MBA will definitely help you in becoming Self-Reliant. Most of the Students are well aware about MBA and its importance to catapult one's career to newer heights. You all know that top Companies like Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey and many more hire MBA grads in thousands. Almost all big or small companies have MBAs as their CEOs, Middle Managers and entry level Executives.

What will they teach you in MBA? Apart from the subjects like Marketing Management, Economics, Statistics, Personal Management etc, they will also have a lot more to offer which can help you in learning more intricate skills such as Public Speaking, Leadership, Teamwork, Conflict Management, and Negotiating Skills etc.

An MBA/PGDM degree from a prestigious B School will offer you a treasure of advantages, especially when it's from an established and reputed Business School. Getting lucrative Salary after graduation, landing a coveted Management position, developing a strong Professional Network, increasing matrimonial prospects manifolds and even becoming your own boss are just a few of the great advantages of studying for an MBA degree or PGDM from a prestigious B- School.

There is a saying in English: There is no echelon like an upper echelon. MBA from a good B School is not a mere route but a highway through which you can certainly reach upper echelons.

Have you decided to do MBA just because of the hype or peer pressure or parental pressure or because of the advice from Sharma Uncle or because of genuine interest or because of the perceived benefits from MBA? Have you decided to join MBA on the advice of a Professional Career Counsellor? Or have you decided to do MBA on the basis of advice received from Sales Girls ( Designated deceivingly as 'Counselors') of a Coaching Institute?

Whatever may be the reason, you should be aware of it. If you don't know the reason, try to find.The answer should be known to you. Not only answer to this question; you have to ultimately Find Yourself too!

This is an important exercise which has to be completed before you decide to go for Coaching or not.
