Having taught Maths/DI/LR to thousands of students from June 2007 to till date; perhaps I am in a better position to write about pros and cons of CAT Coaching Institutions.

First of all let us discuss positive points  about the Coaching Institutes in this Article:

(1) Coaching institutes and their 10% better Students surely have bright future ahead. Some sincere students are definitely helped and benefited by the Faculty team and Coaching Staff to a great extent but their number is not more than 10% of the total students.

The students who are  finally selected get selected mainly because of their hard work and some able guidance from Coaching Team. No doubt about that.

(2) Apart from the routine classes on all three areas by competent Faculty; Doubt Clearing Sessions and Mentoring Sessions are also arranged by  the Coaching Institutes.

(3) All Coaching Institutes arrange for Mock Tests which are definitely useful  for around 10%  to 20% of  the total Students.

(4) All Coaching Institutes provide sessions for GD/PI after CAT which are very beneficial for a few students who get calls from Top B Schools who are less than 10% of the total students enrolled.

(5) Top Coaching Institutes provide space for studies and Computer Lab for Mock Tests. There is no need to seek separate space in a private library.

(6) The calibre of the Faculty Team is generally  very high in Top Coaching Institutes. Not all, but some of them are definitely seasoned, knowledgeable, capable and inspiring.  And some of them are great entertainers too!

While the profit is all taken by the owners, moderately paid Faculty members really work hard for their students. Though only less than 10% students are finally benefitted.

(7) The students who manage to enter in the inner circles of a  Faculty, get immensely benefitted in getting personalised mentoring.

(8) Some students and Faculty manage to become life-long friends. Mentoring continues for them forever.

(9) Coaching Institutes are great escape for young boys and girls. Parents and Faculty don't interfere in their personal matters, in general. Coaching Institutes are a good platform for affairs! Many affairs begin here and culminate in marriages!! And some result in disasters too. Be careful!

(10) Directors of the coaching Institutes do arrange 4 to 5 seminars in a year on Test Taking Starategies and Selection of B Schools etc which again are useful for approximately 10% of the total enrolled Students.
