Surely, you have understood the importance of Prerequisites for CAT Preparation. Now, you will be able to appreciate the importance of identifying and removing the real time wasters so as to have efficient Time Management.
I have purposely avoided to use the word discipline! It is very easy to tell the students: Be disciplined! The word Discipline reminds tobacco chewing indisciplined School Teachers of my Govt. Schools! Their usual refrain used to be : Discipline is the backbone of Character.
'Discipline' also reminds Governments Twenty Point Programme ( बीस सूत्रीय कार्यक्रम) of 1975. Hence I do not want to use this 'cliche'.
Moreover, I am not qualified to issue sermons on discipline when my own mind wanders like a drunken ape every now and then!
A little bit , just a little bit, of indiscipline is rather desirable to enjoy the life! Strict discipline is not needed but a bit of Time Management is essential for the CAT Preparation Plan.
In fact, in short it is all about Time Management: Before MBA, During MBA and Beyond MBA.
There are many activities in the lives of students which are not very productive. A few examples of Time wasters are: Social Media, TV watching, Excessive socialising ( read 'Time-pass') with friends.
In general, most of the students spend around 3 to 5 hours every day on Mobile/TV. Your sucees in CAT 24/25/XX will depend on how much do you curtail your Screen Time.
Some of you might have studied Maths and English seriously in School days. Hence you can afford to spend even more than two hours everyday on Social Media.
Majority of others, in all probability, could not have studied Maths and English well to the desired Standards of IIMs because of lack of awareness and facilities. Surely it was none of your faults at that time. Your parents, School, and School Teachers may be blamed for that.
But now onwards , you will be responsible for your success or failure. You are an adult now. You have much more grasping power now than what you had in school days.
You have to cover the 'lost grounds' on your own. If your Schools or teachers did not teach you earlier; who is stopping you now to study on your own to catch up!?
As you know the importance of Maths and English for building your career; you will appreciate, you don't have anytime left to waste now. Your screen time in a day should not be more than 1 hour in any case, now onwards.
Here comes the all important Resolution to be made till CAT24/25/XX process is over. And the Resolution to restrict the screen time to one hour is to be made by you immediately.
If you agree to implement the above point, you have come closer to making the all important Preparation Plan for CAT 2024/25/XX.
It will be prudent to recall a few idioms and ask yourself a few questions:
(1) Do you want to fritter away your precious time in watching inconsequential serials on the Web?
(2) Do you still want to fiddle around watching IPL?
(3) Are you happy daydreaming about IIMs while doing nothing and kicking the heels?
If your answer to all three questions is no; we are finally ready to make a well documented Plan! Please click here for the next step of CAT Preparation Plan-3.
