Once you have decided to prepare for MBA with or without the help of Coaching Institute, the next step is to start preparing Plan for CAT.
The most frequent question from the students, faced by me as a faculty, has been : How to prepare for CAT ? It is a tough question to answer by any Faculty of any Subject Area. And, it's honest answer is tougher to digest by the most students. Still, I will give you an honest answer.
Obviously there can not be same Preparation Plan for all the students as they all are from different Financial, Educational and Cultural backgrounds. Further, among the aspirants, there are many college going students and some are droppers who have completed their graduation recently or one to many years back.
Moreover, they all join for different periods of time. Some of the students join Coaching Institutes for two years and some of them join for only three months or even less. Besides, they all have different IQ/EQ and different academic achievements.
However, luckily there are a few common differentiating factors for all students irrespective of the differences mentioned above. And these factors are not Talent/ Degree/Experience/Financial Background/ Cultural Background etc.
The two real differentiators are the two interlinked qualities:
(1) Hunger for learning or thirst for knowledge or skills.
(2) Willingness to work very hard.
The above two are the Prerequisites for CAT Preparation. If you don't have the above two traits; no Preparation Plan will be successful.
In my sixteen years experience as a CAT Faculty, have observed that many students lack in the above two qualities. Many students are reluctant to learn additional concepts and hard work is generally missing.
Ask yourself honestly, do you have the above two qualities? If yes, then Congratulations! Half the battle is already won! Believe me!!
If the answer is no, are you ready to acquire the above two qualities sooner than later? Success of Preparation Plan depends on the answers to the above questions. While mentors may inspire several students to a certain extent; no mentor will ever be able to inject these qualities in all the students. A true Mentor can only let you know the importance of these prerequisites. These two qualities have to come from within.
Now as you have understood the above two points; Be ready to go for extra mile and get your nose to the grindstone.
Perfervid, Assiduous, Sedulous and Indefatigable are a few positive adjectives used for hard-working, passionate, focussed people who do have the above two traits. May we use such adjectives for you?
Please go through this article once again, understand fully and then only click on the Part 2 of the Preparation Plan which is about Time Management and making an important Resolution before finalising the Plan.
Finally, keep in mind Edmund Hillary's simple but powerful words: If you really want something, you will work hard for it.
